</xml><![endif]-->Let me start out with a story. When I was in the 8th
grade I got into an argument with one of my male friends because he had
indicated that a girl could never make the football team, even if they were
allowed to try out. Although his statement in my case was obviously true, I
proceeded to send around a petition so that I would be able to try out for the team
and had all my classmates sign it. I didn’t even want to play football. It just bothered me that he would tell me I’m not capable of doing something
because of my gender. I suppose I’ve always been a bit of a feminist.<br />
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
In light of my little petition, a few of my girlfriends and
I were talking and it just so happened that I was the only “Mormon” in the
bunch. Seemingly out of nowhere one of my best friends said to me, “I just
don’t understand it. How can YOU belong to a church that oppresses women?” </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
I sputtered. Honestly, I was blown away. Never in my 14
years of life had it crossed my mind that I was oppressed. “What?” I stammered
out. “What do you mean?” </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
“You can’t hold the priesthood.” Another friend said. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Clearly, they had all talked about this beforehand. I was
completely shocked by the question and while I don’t remember what I said
exactly, I know it wasn’t a full or coherent answer to their sincere inquiry. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
In light of the recent movement of some women in the church
petitioning to hold the priesthood, my friends’ questions resurfaced in my
mind. Now, as an adult woman, I asked myself some hard questions and I’ve come
up with the same answer I had back then, and I’d like to take the chance to
answer it a little more fully than I did that day in the 8th grade. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>

There is no gender inequality in The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter Day Saints, either doctrinally or in practice. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Never have I been made to feel inadequate or
secondary in purpose or potential to my male counterparts. On the contrary, I
have always been empowered, inspired, and motivated by leaders of the church,
both male and female, to reach a little higher, seek an education, and achieve
my full potential. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">
So
why doesn’t that bother me even a little bit? Let me see if I can explain it.
In the words of Elder Neil L. Andersen, one of the twelve apostles, “<span style="mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">We
sometimes overly associate the power of the priesthood with men in the Church.
<b>The priesthood is the power and authority of God given for the salvation and
blessing of all—men, women, and children. A man may open the drapes so the warm
sunlight comes into the room, but the man does not own the sun or the light or
the warmth it brings. The blessings of the priesthood are infinitely greater
than the one who is asked to administer the gift.</b>”</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">
<span style="mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">I
don’t need to hold the Priesthood to reach my full potential; neither do I need
to hold the Priesthood in order to be blessed by it every day and every minute
of my life. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I may be the one to carry
our children into this world, but Bryce is still their father and is blessed by
them and charged with the responsibility to help raise and protect them.
Similarly, Bryce may be the one who brings the Priesthood into our home, but I
have an equal opportunity to be blessed by that power as well as an equal
responsibility to live up to the covenants and promises I have made. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">
<span style="mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";"> </span><span class="MsoCommentReference"><span style="font-size: 8.0pt; line-height: 107%;"><a class="msocomanchor" href="https://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=5761406748133180889#_msocom_2" id="_anchor_2" name="_msoanchor_2"></a><span style="mso-special-character: comment;"></span></span></span><span style="mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">
</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">
<span style="mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Furthermore,
women do not need to be married or have a “Priesthood holder” in the home in
order to be blessed by the power of the Priesthood. “</span>In the worldwide
leadership training <i>Strengthening the Family and the Church through the
Priesthood,</i> we were taught that sisters who don’t have priesthood holders
in their homes need never feel alone. They are blessed and strengthened through
the ordinances they have received and the covenants they keep.” –Carole M
Stephens, 1st counselor in the Relief Society General Presidency. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">
Sister
Sheri L. Dew, who served as a counselor in the general Relief Society
presidency, put it this way, “Sisters, some will try to persuade you that
because you are not ordained to the priesthood, you have been shortchanged.
They are simply wrong, and they do not understand the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The blessings of the priesthood are available to every righteous man and woman.
We may all receive the Holy Ghost, obtain personal revelation, and be endowed
in the temple, from which we emerge ‘armed’ with power. The power of the
priesthood heals, protects, and inoculates all of the righteous against the
powers of darkness. Most significantly, the fullness of the priesthood
contained in the highest ordinances of the house of the Lord can be received
only by a man and woman together.”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">
I
echo Sister Dew’s sentiments. I have personally been blessed beyond measure by
the Priesthood power throughout my life. I am a witness of its power to heal,
its ability to inspire, and its sure protection. I cannot imagine my life
without the Priesthood, and there is no need for me to hold it in order to
receive any of its blessings.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;">
<span style="mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">In
writing my thoughts down, it is not my intention to criticize or convert
anyone. But I am a women in the LDS church, and I wanted my voice to be heard. </span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
It all started when Nora was born and Mitch and Colleen came out to visit us. I was in a little bit of a fog (understandably, no?) Anyway, Mitch, in an effort to get me excited said, "I get time off in October for UEA, let's go on a trip together." Shows how well that father-in-law of mine knows me, because basically all I need is something to look forward too and I am good to go. Anywho, 10 months really does fly. We decided on Chicago, and I have to say, I loved it. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Chicago has everything a big city should have, but with less garbage, more flowers, and the most beautiful skyline you've ever seen. I constantly was blown away by how gorgeous the whole city is. I mean, the river flowing through downtown?? Perfection. Every single building is exquisite and unique and you can tell that Chicago-ans take pride in their city. I don't blame them. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Our weekend was jam packed full of everything you could possibly fit into four days in the city. It is safe to say that Mitch and Colleen are basically the best tour guides (and all around in-laws) ever. I'm not sure how I got so blessed with them as my second parents. I don't want to sound redundant with how amazing they are and how much fun we had and how delicious every single thing we ate was. So, I am going to just write the basics so I can always remember the details. Below is my valiant effort at remembering everything noteworthy we did while we were there. </div>

Wednesday: </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Landed in Chicago and checked in our hotel, the Westin River North.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Then we started walking to check out the city, walked by Michigan Ave.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Walked down by the river and the museums through a ton of beautiful parks.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Went to the Willis (Sears) Tower and did the tour, so cool. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Lou Malnatis Pizza for dinner... deep dish pizza...soo good. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Walked down Michigan Ave and bought a cookie for dessert at Ghirradeli's. </div>

Thursday: </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Wildberry for breakfast (best food I've ever eaten. Notice that I did not specify breakfast food. Best food, period. I would fly to Chicago just to eat at Wildberry and come back home. The end.)</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Then we spent hours in the Museum of Science and Technology, we really could have spent days, there was so much to see, my favorite museum to date. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Toured the University of Chicago. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Capital Grille for dinner. </div>

Sunday morning we woke up early and flew back to the babies. Special thanks to my parents for taking care of Luke and Nora. I'm pretty sure the kids didn't miss us at. all. I missed them WAY more than I anticipated I would, which makes my heart happy because I just love where my life is at this minute and the two sweet souls I get to spend my days with. Here are a couple pictures that my mom sent me of the children while we were gone. </div>

My water broke on the morning of December 19th, 2012 and a few short hours later sweet miss Nora Diane (for my Grandma Diane) entered this world. The first thing the doctor said was "look at those dimples!" I remember feeling shocked, and so happy. I wanted to hold her so badly but my arms were numb from a wiggy epidural and I was so afraid I would drop her. I remember thinking how small she was. She was almost a full pound bigger than Luke was when he was born, and still she seemed as tiny as a teardrop. Bryce and I were nervous (to say the least) to have two babies so close together, and when I was pregnant we would pray for a sweet, easy baby who would sleep through the night, ha. Well, we got two out of three because miss Nor is the sweetest, easiest baby the world has ever known, <i>such a blessing in our lives. </i>Still working on the sleeping though, 9 and 1/2 months later, :).<br />

Here is a pathetically abbreviated photo tour of baby girl's life so far: <br />

Dear, sweet Nora, I love you so much. I can't wait to watch you grow and develop. You fill my heart with love and joy every single day. I feel beyond blessed to be your mama. I hope we will always stay best friends like we are now (and Daddy and Luke, of course). Thank you for being so patient and forgiving when it comes to my many mistakes. You are an angel baby and I can't get enough of you. Forever is the only length of time that is long enough for me to know you, thank heaven we have that. Love, Mom</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
So. The thing is, I haven't blogged on this little family blog of mine in almost a y e a r. It makes me so sad to look at this last post and realize all the things that I've missed out on documenting. So many sweet and precious moments. I spend <i>so much time </i>on the internet for <a href="http://www.prettyprovidence.com/">Pretty Providence</a>, I finally decided that it's a tiny bit ridiculous that I can't take a little time each week to keep a record of my little family, the most important thing in my life, other than the gospel of Jesus Christ. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I enlisted Sar to help me give the blog a little makeover, so that it was a space I could be proud of and excited about. Holy cow, is she talented or what? It only took her like a day, too. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My goal is to blog at least once a week. I also might try to catch up on a few things I've missed here at first like, um... we had a daughter!! Ha. She is all my hopes and dreams, by the way. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I will mainly be blogging about my family (for posterity, you know) but also about my thoughts, hopes, dreams, inspirations, and you know.. whatever I want, haha. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Basically what I'm trying to get at is, I'm back. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If you'd like to follow along, I'd love to have you! If not, no big deal, I love this little internet corner of mine, even if only my mama reads it. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

I can't believe that I only have 6 weeks and 5 days left until this baby is due to arrive. I feel like I spent the entire first trimester (at least) worrying that she would come early, and we would have another NICU baby. Lately though, I have felt so much peace.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am proud to say that I am adjusting to doing <i>less</i> and not feeling bad about myself because of it. Typically, I am a doer and it has been hard for me to learn my limits. But I have, and now no matter what happens I feel like I did my best to "be careful" as my doctors and sweet husband consistently remind me. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Already, I feel so much more prepared than we were with Luke.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
We had such a fun Halloween week. On Tuesday night we took Luke to his first trunk-or-treat. It was totally perfect for someone his size, because it's so much easier to walk down a line of cars than it is from house to house! He didn't fight me at all on the costume (I was shocked) and he loved carrying his pumpkin bucket around, even though it was almost as big as him. When it came to the actual trunk-or-treating, he would go up to a trunk, they would give him a candy, he would put it in his bucket, and then he would hand them back a different one. So, he left with exactly nothing, which was probably better anyway since he doesn't eat candy and that is the last thing this pregnant mama needs lying around. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
On Wednesday Colleen flew in to help us finish (yes, you heard me right, <i>we finished!</i>) painting. She is such an angel, and it was super fun to have her there to celebrate with us. Our next bash was a trick-or treat at Dad's work. Even though the picture below is blurry, I love it. It was so cute to watch Luke follow his Daddy around the office. Bryce was a sweet Dad and husband and introduced us to everyone. I am so grateful he has such a great job, not to mention a fun work environment. </div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
By Wednesday night Luke wasn't feeling well so we just put him right to bed like usual and he missed all the trick-or-treaters. Our neighborhood....wow. I won't even tell you how much candy I went through, but that is why I love it here so much! We ordered cafe rio, and Bryce and I hung out in our driveway with Pam and Scott and passed out candy. I made my caramel corn (of course) and Pam brought doughnuts and chocolate milk. In short, we celebrated the holiday by maxing out our weekly caloric intake in two short hours. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqe3srq5xIJSn8lbU2a7_XRg2HgItp4XdJAv4JLJuRh7zKdkH6JAEUabK4nAmImLwMC3qfiaHFUyyX_UappYNYwyuYz6py23Nez4-nUZHozEX1JTN_bzS-rcQY4WkcyCZGv5HA4SsF1o8f/s400/photo(1).JPG" width="400" /> </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
As I previously mentioned, we have been working on getting Luke's "big boy room" put together lately. I really wanted him to be transitioned to his new room before Nora comes for a few reasons: </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
1. I didn't want him to feel like he was being kicked out or replaced. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
2. I feel like there will be enough changes for him to deal with when she comes.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
3. I knew I wouldn't have much energy for making these changes and was scared I'd never end up doing it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
4. We want to get Nora sleeping in her own crib as soon as possible, since that did wonders for Luke's (and our) sleep. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
However, being realistic, I knew Luke was super young to transition to a big bed and thought it may not be a possible goal. After reading a bunch on the internet and thinking about it for weeks, we decided to go for it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
All day yesterday Luke was sweet as could be. He literally didn't cry or fuss at all. It was one of those rare days of parenting where it felt like everything was perfect. We played, laughed, he played while I laid on the couch and read, we ran to two different stores, to the bank, and to get gas and he was so good, and he even let me cuddle him on the couch! I just felt like we had so many sweet, sweet moments together... it's hard to explain. I was a little nervous about ruining such a good day by pushing this transition on him if he wasn't ready but... </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
We put him to bed in there last night for the first time and he slept like a champ! We were so proud (and relieved). We just put him to bed just like we always do with his regular bedtime routine, except we did it in his new room. He slept from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. He woke up once at around 4:00 a.m. trying to take off his jammies because he was hot, but he went right back down and didn't make a peep. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Before we put him to bed last night Bryce said, "I haven't been this nervous since we brought him home from the hospital." Haha. We were worried it would be so much worse and we are so grateful for this easy transition. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Today I was worried that he wouldn't nap as well in his new bed, but he did great. I'm so so proud of my little man who gets bigger and sweeter every day. Where has the time gone? </div>

I am supposed to be taking it easy these days and I am trying hard to do just that. I set myself one or two really easy goals or errands to do <i>for the whole day</i>. We are enjoying our last little while as a family of three, and working hard (slowly but surely) to get things ready for baby Nor Nor.<br />
<br />
Hope all is well with all of you. </div>

We're back!</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Long story short, I missed this little blog. I have failed again and again at old fashioned journaling and even though I can be inconsistent, I am grateful for the little moments that I have recorded on this blog. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
So, I decided that I am going to try to keep you up to date on our going on's. Luke is growing up so fast it's unbelievable. He is such a smart and curious little man.</div>

Here are a few things that have happened since I last wrote:</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

It is crazy. He is by no means a pro, but he can pretty much get wherever he wants now. I don't know if I am ready he is growing up so fast. <br />-He is making all kinds of fun new noises. His current fave is a "thhhh" sound with his tongue against his top gums.<br />-He loves big boy food. He has kinda always thought formula was nasty I think, (who can blame him?) so he is loving the real stuff. <br />-He loves his bathtime. <br />-He has been sleeping like a champ. Usually from about 6:00 P.M - 7:00 A.M. Sometimes he will wake up once between 2 & 4 and then go right back down after a bottle. <br />-He is finally getting better at daytime naps too! It is amazing the things I can accomplish when he sleeps during the day! I love it. <br />-He LOVES church & he is so good when we were there. <br />-He is the most curious little boy ever. JUST like his Daddy. He will not sit still for a minute. He wants whatever you have. Not toys. PHONES. I can get him to crawl anywhere for my Iphone. <br />-He is the smiliest, sweetest thing. His interactions with me get cuter everyday and it is the best feeling in the world to see how much he loves us. <br /><br />I don't have many pictures because I'm at my parents house for the wedding already but here are a few to tide you over :)<br /><br />His favorite thing to play with is balloons...<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjC0KMkrxho3ZvPTFQeXalYtI86M2keJ2kyQVXNgEuMY8-M__e9sq7wDFgSZSzj3A8eA7pfiv3rsPkjbD_8eu_1Mj8Be6fZuH9UcA4Vcv6Iy6K25kzO1NcpWX2VDgKjwlMGASnrBwpEXbgk/s1600/1ballons"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjC0KMkrxho3ZvPTFQeXalYtI86M2keJ2kyQVXNgEuMY8-M__e9sq7wDFgSZSzj3A8eA7pfiv3rsPkjbD_8eu_1Mj8Be6fZuH9UcA4Vcv6Iy6K25kzO1NcpWX2VDgKjwlMGASnrBwpEXbgk/s400/1ballons" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5716554320787173938" /></a><br /><br /><br />Luke loves planes just like his Daddy...<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBD3VBpQY-NIXKaW6YqteEObufexoWwkvKMMK67AIepfbMoQe1Ar3AkO0z7BFwTtPlwq5no253bk3xgkRM962Vj4H-KgG6u1B5UbgTbmj7pI7kdzwC9Evxg5dYYGAOLW0k023K1-BCSEPl/s1600/1plane"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiBD3VBpQY-NIXKaW6YqteEObufexoWwkvKMMK67AIepfbMoQe1Ar3AkO0z7BFwTtPlwq5no253bk3xgkRM962Vj4H-KgG6u1B5UbgTbmj7pI7kdzwC9Evxg5dYYGAOLW0k023K1-BCSEPl/s400/1plane" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5716554193962985682" /></a><br /><br /><br />Rockin the church clothes...<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVypVVYo1NP_RCee_EDGynLbYO1MZ9uxfCtFOf8P-7jks0xvtsNTsLs5B72T0xEiQGjPPxuKMbdFlmWeKIAPs2CYF-FyddgZvQwACTd7DwnqEwpynfHWsbonJmsnMqlLJQKAphLIULBjft/s1600/1church"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVypVVYo1NP_RCee_EDGynLbYO1MZ9uxfCtFOf8P-7jks0xvtsNTsLs5B72T0xEiQGjPPxuKMbdFlmWeKIAPs2CYF-FyddgZvQwACTd7DwnqEwpynfHWsbonJmsnMqlLJQKAphLIULBjft/s400/1church" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5716553955492470546" /></a><br /><br /><br />The cutest boy I know...<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTnQCH0qS3RFUVV4aI9XATDPKyM-7f31OAUi13aeXhjZvUW89t-FarNoMjtVVcROU5X7f9duBVinpxXxNEddu56pxHM4XssBOUOnOtS5t5yuMNXlVkkk07W3N0eCGxnUDqZiZW_pXm-Ci-/s1600/1cutie"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjTnQCH0qS3RFUVV4aI9XATDPKyM-7f31OAUi13aeXhjZvUW89t-FarNoMjtVVcROU5X7f9duBVinpxXxNEddu56pxHM4XssBOUOnOtS5t5yuMNXlVkkk07W3N0eCGxnUDqZiZW_pXm-Ci-/s400/1cutie" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5716553764315239106" /></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5761406748133180889.post-33055444312543077392011-12-01T14:50:00.000-08:002013-09-28T11:00:22.800-07:00Catching Up<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">

This past month has been so crazy! I honestly can't believe its only been a month since we moved here. For some reason it feels way longer. I have a few things that I feel like I need to quickly catch the blog world up on. We we first got here we stayed with my adorable Grandpa & Grandma Bickmore, I know i've mentioned that before but I just had to share one pic of the time with them! </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
It was so much fun to hang out with them all the time & especially for them to get to know Luke & Bryce better. I am SO grateful they are here in St. George for us to hang out with. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Our first weekend here was Halloween. Luke was the cutest little tiger I ever saw, but i'll let you see for yourself. The Kiser's were SO sweet to have us over for the most delicious soup ever. After that Luke went trick-or-treating at Grandma & Grandpa's & Kent & Leesa's. It was so funny because Uncle Kent gave Luke a little snickers bar when we rang the doorbell & he WOULD NOT let it go. So funny. Couldn't eat it yet, but didn't want anyone to take it. :) </div>

We were with them for about two weeks & then we spent about a week moving & settling into our new place. It is in what they call Washington Fields and we have really loved the area so far. We have the cutest little backyard. I will take some pictures to post eventually. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
After that week my mom & Kelsey came on Friday, and then the whole rest of the family came on Tuesday for Thanksgiving. It was SO much fun to have them all here, I was seriously counting down the days. Jordan even came down the Friday after Thanksgiving to spend a few days. We had so much fun shopping, going out to eat, arcade, going for walks, bumper cars, mani/pedis, mini golf, real golf & the boys played ALOT of basketball which is Bryce's favorite part. Me and Bryce also took advantage of the babysitters and went on a few wonderful & much needed dates. We miss them already & are so excited that Christmas is around the corner. Here are a couple photos from Thanksgiving. I've been really bad at taking pictures as you can see. </div>

Here are a few other random pics (mostly of Luke bug) that I haven't posted yet. I have lots more that aren't uploaded to the comp. yet so hopefully someday I will post some other cute ones. It is crazy how much he is growing & changing. Every day he gets stronger, smarter, cuter & funnier. I love being able to spend time with him every day. </div>

Happy Thanksgiving!! We are truly so blessed. I am grateful for all my many blessings especially today for the gift of love. What a beautiful thing, the human capacity to love. However, Nothing can compare to Gods love.</div>

I am so thankful that Bryce is gainfully employed. This economy is so rough and so many good people are struggling. I feel blessed to be able to help when we can.</div>

I'm so thankful today that I'm a mother. I have the best son in the whole world. Sometimes I wonder if it is prideful of me to think MY son is the cutest, smartest, funniest, sweetest, strongest little four month old I have ever seen. But honestly, the things I love about him the most are traits he shares with his Daddy and traits that are purely his own. I love that he is so curious. People always tell me how he seems so <span style="font-style: italic;">aware</span> and he really is a smart little bug. I love watching him take in the world around him. Right now it is fun to watch him learning about cause and effect. Twist the mobile, mobile spins. Shake the bottle, yummy time. Push the button, music plays. It is neat to see him puzzle things out. He has the sweetest temperament. He never cries unless something needs attention (ie:diaper, tummy, sleepy), and even then he usually gives you a few minutes of "hey, I need help over here" fake cries before he really gets into it. He likes the spotlight. All you have to do to make him smile/laugh is give him your attention. He is laughing so much more now & smiling <span style="font-style: italic;">ALL THE TIME. </span>I love it. I make mistakes with him constantly, and he is so forgiving. When he went to get his 4 month old shots, the nurse gave him the shots and after that two second delay he started screaming. As soon as she said I could pick him up I hugged him close & he immediately stopped crying. She told me most babies cry all the way till their through the elevator & she can't hear them anymore (who could blame them? Shots are awful). He is a really brave little guy. I could go on and on but he just woke up for his bottle. What a blessing to be his mother. I am so unworthy of the task, but I try my best, & I love him.</div>

Thankful for babysitters. Kelsey & my mom have been so amazing. Just helping with Luke ALL-THE-TIME. As much as I'm obsessed with the little nugget, it is nice to have a break too. Tonight they are babysitting while Bryce and I go on a date, a rare and precious occurrence now that all are babysitters are in SLC. :). I'm excited.</div>

So thankful today for wards. Our ward here have been angels so far. We had only been to church one week and already my visiting teachers have stopped by, the elders quarum stopped by, our neighbors have stopped by & today we got callings & asked to speak in church (not thankful for that part right this second...but i'm sure after i'll be glad). It is just so nice to feel loved and cared for. Even though it will be awhile before this is really home, I know we will love it by how wonderful and welcoming everyone has been to us. I really can't imagine moving without a ward family!</div>

By the same token, we love and miss our old ward so much!!</div>

I have been counting down the days & I am so happy its finally here & we'll get to be together for an entire week+!</div>

Today I am grateful for Bryce's great job. We feel so blessed to have found this opportunity in the midst of this economy, and no one deserves it more that he does. He works so hard & never complains. I am grateful that he is doing something he loves. When we got married I told him I would follow him anywhere and I stand by that, St. George isn't too bad a place to follow ;) it was 70 degrees this week. I also feel so blessed that his job enables me to stay at home with Luke. Even though being a stay-at-home mom is ten times harder than I ever thought it would be, I wouldn't trade it for anything. I have the most rewarding job on the planet, and that is because Bryce works so hard for our family.</div>

I am thankful for the holiday season. I love how it helps me to refocus on the things in life that are truly important. I think that is the reason that everyone loves Christmas so much. It's not the gifts, it's the <span style="font-style: italic;">spirit of the season. </span>I love the beautiful music, the yummy smells & picking out presents for loved ones. I'm excited for the lights, the concerts, the nativities and the pageants, but mostly I am excited to remember my blessings the greatest of all being the birth, life, death & ressurection of my Savior.</div>

I am grateful for smiles from strangers. I love how when you are carrying a baby around EVERYBODY smiles at you. Even if said baby is screaming his brains out. People talk to you who normally wouldn't & I love to hear their stories. It makes me feel like the world is a wonderful place the way people are moved by a little one to be a little kinder.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Today I am thankful for grandparents. I think they are the best kind of people. It was so fun for us to be able to stay a few weeks with Grandma & Grandpa Bickmore. I want to be just like them. Even in two weeks I feel like I have learned so much about them, their lives, & things I can be better at that I may never have known if we didn't get that opportunity. That alone makes this move a blessing for me. I am like my Grandma in some ways I never knew before. We are both ocd clean, we both love to read, we both love chocolate. If only I had her sweet countenance. My Grandpa is an advice-giver & a businessman. He is in love with my Grandma and he has the greatest laugh. Sometimes when i'm around him I know what he is going to say next before he even says it because it is exactly what my dad would say. He is frugal. He worked hard to earn a living & knows how to save. Both of them are so Christlike. I love playing aggravation with them, & hearing stories about Pennies and watching them with Luke (he loves them so much) and most of all watching them interact with each other. I am so excited to live closer to them now.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My Grammy & Grandpa Kresge are so warm. That is how I would describe them, and when you walk into their home it is the same feeling. My Grammy is the most selfless person I know. She gives and gives and gives & never keeps for herself. I have to be careful around her to not say anything that we need or want, or compliment her on anything she has. She has quite literally given me the ring off her finger, or the table in their kitchen. It's unbelievable. My Grandma doesn't judge anyone. I will always remember that she bought me my "clam up" shirt that I wanted with sparkly clams all over it that my mother wouldn't let me wear. She has always been just like a friend to me. My Grandpa is a master storyteller. He gives the best hugs. I think he is the only person I know who picks Bryce up to hug him when he sees him. He's strong as an ox & I love stories from his soldier & wrestling days. He has the greatest testimony. I love both these Grandparents were converts and grew up in New York. They both serve in the temple each week. They always cheer you on. I love them. They are also so Christlike.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Grandma Prince is so spunky. Even though I have known her for four years now I love how I never know what she is going to say next. She has a great love for her children & family and has raised them well. She is a strong woman. It has been hard to watch her lose her companion, but she is a fighter & I am always impressed by her strength & poise. I love her. Grandpa Prince was adorable. I can still close my eyes and picture his smile & laugh exactly. He was always smiling. More than anyone else, he immediately made me feel a part of this family. He was such a hard worker. He taught me so much in the short time I knew him and I miss him.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am also so grateful for Luke's amazing grandparents. He loves them so much. I don't know how anyone could have grandparents better than mine, but my son might have a fighting chance at it.</div>

I am grateful for my warm house. It is funny because we have had so many issues with our new place in St. George. The biggest one being that Bryce is allergic to our house. Really he is allergic to cats, but the landlords say there have never been cats blah blah blah. Anyway Bryce gets asthma whenever he is home because his asthma is allergy induced. We have tried everything to make it go away..So many times since we have moved in I have found myself feeling bitter because of these bumps in the road. It doesn't take long for me to realize how spoiled I am. There are so many people in the world without a roof over their heads or protection from life's storms and I am complaining because my big cozy house has some bugs to work out (literally...) if worse comes to worse, we will have to move again, and while that will not be fun how can I complain about moving from one nice place to another? I am grateful for this house, and I think eventually we will love it here.</div>
